Fire Safety Assistant Training at the Lauterbach Site

Workplace safety is a top priority: A fire safety assistant training session recently took place at HEISSNER GmbH’s Lauterbach facility. Led by Matthias Lother from LZ-Brandschutz-Service, the course guided the team through a hands-on curriculum. Fire safety assistants support the fire safety officer during emergencies, assist in building evacuations, and tackle incipient fires in those critical first minutes. To ensure everyone remains confident and ready to act, this training is refreshed regularly.

The session alternated between theory and practice:

  • Theory: Topics included fire causes, fire classes, suitable extinguishing agents, and proper emergency conduct—from sounding the alarm to evacuation and rescue. The hazards of toxic combustion gases and the role of on-site facilities like fire doors, wall hydrants, and fire alarms were also covered.
  • Practice: Using a gas-powered fire simulator, each participant extinguished a controlled fire firsthand. The exercise focused on proper extinguishing tactics with the wind and the practical handling of various extinguisher types, including water, powder, and CO₂ models.

An informative day and a valuable update for on-site fire safety, enhancing the ability to react quickly and properly in an emergency—at work and in everyday life
